Job description:
Cogent Staffing are working on behalf of our Halifax based client to source an Accounts Assistant.
Hours:
- 22-25 hours a week over 4 days (Monday to Thursday; no work on Fridays).
- Standard office hours: 7am to 5pm (Mon-Wed) and 7am to 4:30pm (Thu), but hours for this role are negotiable.
- Temporary to permanent assignment.
- £14.00 per hour.
- Weekly pay.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor and post stock transactions
- Perform bookkeeping duties, including preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Maintain accurate computerized Sage and paper accounts
- Post, reconcile, and review general ledger accounts
- Reconcile bank statements
- Handle invoice and credit control queries
- Process monthly payroll
- Prepare payment schedules
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, and copying
- Adhere to the Company’s standards, policies, and procedures
- Keep the work area tidy and free from hazards, promptly reporting potential dangers
- Undertake any internal or external training as required
- Carry out other duties as needed within the general scope of the job
Key Objectives:
- Meet accounts deadlines
- Ensure 100% accuracy in all financial transactions
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in bookkeeping, ideally within a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in Sage and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
