Cogent Staffing are recruiting for Sewing Machine Operators for our client in Bradford, BD5. Temporary to permanent opportunities available for the right candidate. Salary negotiable depending on experience, evidence of time spent in a similar role is essential.
Shift/salary:
Monday to Friday
Rotating shifts 06:30-14:30 and 14:30-22:30 weekly rotating
Pay rate starting at £10.42 – negotiable depending on experience

The role:
Operate industrial sewing machines, including flatbed and/or overlock machines.
Read and interpret work orders to determine specifications and requirements.
Select appropriate materials, threads, needles, and other sewing supplies.
Set up machines by threading needles, changing machine settings, and adjusting tension and stitch length.
Feed fabric or materials through the machine, guiding them under the needle and through the machine’s mechanisms.
Monitor machine operations to ensure proper stitching, tension, and alignment of materials.
Inspect finished products for defects, such as loose threads, uneven stitches, or incorrect sizing, and make necessary adjustments.
Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of sewing machines to ensure optimal performance.
Collaborate with other team members to meet production targets and quality standards.
Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.
The candidate:
Proven experience as a Sewing Machine Operator or similar role.
Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines, including flat bed and overlock machines.
Strong knowledge of different sewing techniques and garment construction.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and production instructions.
Attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination.
Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy materials if required.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
