Cogent Staffing are recruiting on behalf of our Elland based manufacturing/engineering client for an Operations Supervisor on a permanent basis.

The role:

  • Supervise and lead a team of operations staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure they meet performance targets and deliver exceptional service.
  • Oversee and coordinate daily operational activities, including order processing, inventory management, and shipping/receiving, to ensure timely and accurate execution.
  • Monitor and analyze operational processes to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, workflows, and standards to ensure consistency and compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as logistics, procurement, and customer service, to ensure seamless coordination and effective communication across departments.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members, recognizing achievements and addressing areas for improvement.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety protocols to create a safe work environment for all staff members.
  • Resolve operational issues and customer complaints in a timely and satisfactory manner, demonstrating strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Utilize data and analytics to generate reports and KPIs, providing insights to senior management and contributing to strategic planning and decision-making processes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in operations management, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance operational effectiveness.

The candidate:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership abilities with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a team.
  • Strong knowledge of operational processes, supply chain management, and inventory control principles.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software, including MS Office and inventory management systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or extended hours as needed.
