Cogent Staffing are recruiting on behalf of our Halifax based client for a dynamic and experienced Transport Manager to oversee transport operations across the UK.
About the Role
As Transport Manager, you will ensure the efficient and compliant operation of all transport activities. Collaborating with senior leadership and driver teams, you will manage logistics, safety, and performance to deliver exceptional service to our customers.
Shift/salary:
- Permanent role from day 1
- £40,000 salary
- Monday to Friday office hours
The role:
- Oversee daily transport activities, ensuring compliance and efficiency
- Align transport operations with organizational goals
- Manage vehicle maintenance, servicing, and legal compliance
- Schedule and oversee driver rotas, time reporting, and holidays
- Lead and develop a team of professional drivers
- Ensure adherence to company policies and industry regulations
- Monitor departmental budgets and maintain financial accountability
- Conduct driver interviews, training sessions, and performance reviews
- Manage transport-related equipment and supplies
- Address customer complaints with swift and professional resolutions
- Deliver products during peak times or emergencies as needed
- Coordinate responses to incidents and emergency support
- Foster excellent relationships with suppliers and partners
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators for vehicles and drivers
- Drive continuous improvement within the transport department
- Be available for on-call support during evenings and weekends
- Mentor and support the development of transport staff
The candidate:
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Experienced in transport or logistics management, preferably in multi-site operations
- Knowledgeable in driving regulations and vehicle compliance
- Skilled in time management, planning, and problem-solving
- Proficient in IT, especially MS Office
- Analytical with attention to detail
- Flexible, resilient, and self-motivated
- Committed to continuous improvement and leading by example
- Must hold valid CPC card (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence)
