Cogent Staffing are currently seeking a motivated Furnace Operator to join our client’s dynamic team, in the HaIifax area.
Working Hours
- Core hours: Hours during training (typically 3 months)
- Mon–Thurs 07:30–16:30, Fri 07:30–13:30.
- Shift work will be applicable. These include 0500 – 1400 and 10:00–19:00.
- Night coverage will be required when night staff are on training or on annual leave.
- Temporary to permanent opportunity.
- £13.00 – £13.50ph
- If required to work the Night shift: 18% uplift
- Overtime: first 2 hours – paid at time + 1/3
- Beyond 2 hours – paid at time + ½
- Weekly pay.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare materials and jigging for heat treatment processes.
- Operate furnaces and adhere to provided instructions.
- Conduct manual handling, crane, and forklift operations.
- Perform routine checks on furnaces and processes.
- Utilize control documents and manage scanning paperwork.
- Execute cleaning, shot-blasting, and packing tasks for dispatch.
- Carry out minor maintenance tasks and safety checks.
- Maintain general housekeeping and comply with PPE regulations.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset.
- Excellent timekeeping and team ethics.
- Ability to follow schedules and work instructions carefully.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes.
- Basic computer literacy.
