Job Description:

Cogent Staffing are recruiting for an experienced Retail Assistant on a temporary part time basis for our Wakefield based client. This is temporary only to support through “fireworks season” and you will be working from a kiosk based within a supermarket to sell fireworks to the general public.

Salary/shift requirements:

  • £17.00 per hour
  • Plus £100 attendance bonus based on attending and fulfilling ALL SHIFTS only
  • Weekly in arrears (payments received on a Friday via BACS)
  • Thursday 30th October 14:00-18:00
  • Friday 31st October 12:00-18:00
  • Saturday 1st November 12:00-18:00
  • Sunday 2nd November 12:00-16:00
  • Monday 3rd November 14:00-20:00
  • Tuesday 4th November 12:00-20:00
  • Wednesday 5th November 10:00-20:00

The role:

  • Customer Service: Provide excellent assistance to customers, helping them choose the right products and answering any questions.
  • Sales Transactions: Handle card transactions, ensuring accuracy and security.
  • Conducting regular safety checks on all fireworks displayed.
  • Ensuring that all safety signage is displayed prominently.
  • If there’s any doubt about a customer’s age, staff should assume they are under 25 and check their ID.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining stock levels.
  • Kiosk Maintenance: Keep the kiosk clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards.

The candidate:

  • Age: Must be at least 18 years old (legal requirement for handling fireworks).
  • Experience: Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of fireworks safety and regulations is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability: Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
