Senior Design Engineer

Cogent Staffing are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our client based in Bradford. This is a practical, hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving real engineering problems, working across manufacturing, and seeing designs through to production.

Work Details & Salary

• £50,000–£55,000 per annum (depending on experience)
• 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday
• Flexitime system and early finish on Fridays
• Full-time permanent position

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the New Product Introduction process and associated projects across the business.
• Create and produce design briefs, technical reports, CAD drawings, and necessary calculations.
• Develop and design new products from the initial concept through to final manufacturing.
• Provide engineering insights for sales orders, including creating General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and ERP codes.
• Evaluate customer specifications and works orders.
• Ensure compliance of designs with current national and international standards (ISO 9001, PED/PER).
• Utilise root cause analysis and continuous improvement methods.
• Enhance and support Engineering Change Notice and Engineering Change Request systems, workflows, and documentation processes.
• Communicate project progress effectively to senior management.
• Gather and compile technical data to facilitate R&D tax claims.
• Mentor and guide engineers within the team

Key requirements

• Previous experience as a design engineer within the manufacturing industry.
• Demonstrated experience in managing document control processes.
• Any relevant engineering or design qualifications are beneficial.
• Outstanding organisational abilities and effective time management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and knowledgeable in SolidWorks.
• Strong attention to detail complemented by excellent communication skills.
• A dependable team player who is also capable of working autonomously.
