Wood Machinist

Cogent Staffing is recruiting on behalf of our Halifax-based client for an experienced Wood Machinist to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis. Experience with traditional woodworking techniques is essential.

Shift/Salary:

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30
• Pay: £14.00 per hour
• Payment: Weekly
• Opportunity: Temporary to permanent

Role Responsibilities:

• Operate traditional woodworking machinery to fulfil work orders.
• Interpret production schedules and technical drawings accurately.
• Understand the properties and applications of various raw materials.
• Select appropriate tools and cutters for specific tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Comply with Health and Safety regulations and company guidelines.
• Provide excellent service to clients and foster positive customer relationships.
• Represent the department professionally and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by management.
• Ensure all work meets the company’s quality standards.
• Follow instructions from Line Manager and Senior Management.
• Work additional hours as needed to meet production demands.

Candidate Requirements:

• Time served in a similar role (Wood Machinist).
• Proven experience specifically in traditional woodworking.
• Ability to commute to the Halifax area for the scheduled shifts.
• Seeking a full-time, permanent position.
• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
• Open to overtime during peak periods.
• Ideally available to start ASAP.
