  • Required to work 2 consecutive weekends out of 5 in accordance with the shift rota.
  • Weekdays – 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am.

Responsibilities:

Working in a team of 3, you will be required to;

  • Operate the slitter/rewinder to minimize scrap levels.
  • Ensure packaging, labelling and overall presentation meets with the required standard.
  • Ensure finished product is correctly and safely stored in the warehouse, adhering to the safe stacking guidelines.
  • Operate equipment in accordance with instructions.
  • Show initiative and assist to minimize downtime during machine paper breaks.
  • Assist in machine maintenance, inspect equipment and report defects.
  • Proactive involvement in Sonoco’s SPS process. (Sonoco Performance System)
  • Proactive involvement in Sonoco’s safety systems, reporting close calls and near misses, adhering to instructions set out in policies and procedures, assisting in with the writing, development and review of risk assessments and procedures.
  • Perform any other task at a similar level for which you have received training for.

What you bring to the role:

  • Experience of working in a production or manufacturing process.
  • FLT counterbalance certification
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative is essential.
  • Excellent team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead by example and offer new ideas and working practises to help maintain a continuous improvement culture.
  • A degree of mechanical ability as the use of tools is required to perform some tasks.
  • Own transport – the site is not directly accessible by public transport/public transport not available at some shift start/finish times.
