Quality Engineer

Our client based in Halifax is recruiting for a Quality Engineer to drive continuous improvement initiatives and maintain high quality standards across their manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in engineering or a related technical field, possess hands-on experience with core quality tools (APQP, PPAP, 8D), and demonstrate a strong background in auditing against IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards.

Shifts & Salary

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Monday – Friday, 35 hours a week, typical office hours.
  • £40,000 – £45,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving activities using structured methodologies (e.g., 8D, root cause analysis, Ishikawa diagrams) to resolve quality issues effectively.
  • Drive continuous improvement (CIP) initiatives across production and quality workflows, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are fully implemented.
  • Perform defect and scrap analysis, tracking metrics to spot trends and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Manage customer quality deliverables and project gateways, supporting product readiness through APQP and PPAP frameworks.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for quality matters, collaborating closely with internal teams, suppliers, and clients.
  • Conduct internal system and process audits to verify compliance with IATF 16949,
  • ISO 9001, and internal procedural standards.

Key Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Proven background in quality engineering within a manufacturing setting, with a solid grasp of core quality tools (APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, PFMEA, Control Plans).
  • Practical experience auditing production/business systems in accordance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 guidelines.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, proficiency in reading engineering drawings, and good
  • IT skills (MS Office; experience with Minitab is advantageous).
