Waste & Recycling Manager

We are recruiting for an experienced Waste & Recycling Manager to oversee and develop waste and recycling operations across a national retail division.

This is an exciting opportunity to drive efficiencies, manage high-value contracts, ensure full compliance, and contribute to commercial and environmental performance within a growing retail and logistics operation.

The Role

Reporting to the National Transport & Logistics Manager, you will:

• Manage waste and recycling operations across the retail division.
• Oversee the movement of waste streams from source to recovery, recycling, or disposal.
• Develop and manage high-value national waste and recycling contracts.
• Ensure full compliance with waste legislation, SLAs, KPIs, and Health & Safety standards.
• Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external contractors.
• Collect, analyse, and present waste data to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Develop and implement a Waste & Recycling strategy.
• Identify new business opportunities and drive innovation within waste and recycling services.
• Provide specialist advice on commercial waste, textile recycling, fly tipping, and hazardous waste removal.
• Lead and develop the Waste & Recycling Coordinator.
• Manage budgets and deliver against financial targets.
• The role will require occasional visits to contractor sites and flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.

• Experience working within the waste and recycling sector.
• A strong commercial mindset.
• Experience managing high-value contracts and third-party suppliers.
• Experience delivering KPIs and managing performance (people and budgets).
• Strong IT and data analysis skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Logistics experience.
• Strong relationship-building skills.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Resilience, flexibility, and strong organisational skills.

Desirable:

• Experience in textile recycling.
• Experience working with national waste providers.
