Cogent are recruiting an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join a busy fabrication team in Burnley. The role requires strong welding skills, a good knowledge of fabrication with steel and aluminium, and the ability to produce high-quality, repeatable work to tight tolerances.

Work Details & Salary

  • £15 – £18 per hour (DOE)
  • 39 hours per week; Monday to Friday
  • Full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding as the primary welding process to fabricate and join metal components.
  • Fabricate safety equipment, walkways and manufacturing equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and fabrication instructions to produce quality products.
  • Prepare materials and components for welding including cutting, grinding and tack welding.
  • Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of welding equipment and tools.
  • Ensure welds meet quality standards and complete necessary visual/measurement checks.
  • Maintain accurate work records and report any quality or production issues to supervisors.
  • Comply with site health, safety and quality procedures, including proper use of PPE.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a MIG welder/fabricator; TIG welding experience is highly desirable.
  • Experienced working with stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and follow fabrication specifications.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality, consistent welds.
  • Knowledge of relevant welding codes/standards and best practice.
  • Competent with basic fabrication equipment (grinders, cutters, measuring tools).
  • Strong commitment to health & safety and quality procedures.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work Monday to Friday full-time.
  • Excellent teamworking and communication skills.
