Shipping Manager

Job description

Cogent Staffing is recruiting on behalf of a global manufacturing and distribution company based in Elland for a Shipping Manager.

• 37.5 hours per week
• Monday to Friday 8.30am – 17:00
• £40,000 – £45,000 dependent on experience – must have supervisory or managerial experience to be considered for the higher range.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Preparing shipping documents for domestic and international shipments.
• Start to finish management of shipping processes.
• Tracking shipments and coordinating imports while liaising with different teams.
• Overseeing the department and direct reports, and coordinating with other departments as necessary.
• Requesting transport quotes for truck, air, and ocean freight deliveries.
• Assisting with export/import processes and customer communications.
• Ensuring shipping documentation is accurate and meets compliance standards.
• Supporting the resolution of shipment issues to ensure smooth deliveries.
• Maintaining inventory levels to meet customer requirements.

What We’re Looking For:

• A keen interest in logistics and international shipping.
• Strong previous experience in a shipping role.
• Ideally has supervisory or managerial experience in a similar capacity within shipping.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confidence in using MS Office
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with customers and suppliers.
